If you are looking for hotels near the Pantheon for your next trip to Rome, then you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, you’ll find a selection of the best hotel and accommodation options close to one of the most impressive buildings in town – and my personal favourite monument. No matter your budget, I’ve included everything from luxury, mid-range, and budget, to family-friendly hotels and apartments.

Rome has a host of attractions, but there’s nothing like strolling through the labyrinthine streets of the historic centre and coming face to face with such an architectural wonder as the Pantheon. Two millennia after its construction, the Pantheon is the best-preserved building from ancient Rome and continues to arouse curiosity with its legends and mysteries.

Emperor Augustus’ right-hand man Marcus Agrippa built the Pantheon in 27 BC as a temple to Roman deities. The original version burned down in a fire in 80 AD and was later rebuilt by Hadrian. As an amateur architect, he came up with the design for the spectacular record-breaking dome – the largest unsupported one ever built. The building later became a church, hosting the tombs of important historical figures like Raphael and Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of unified Italy.

Today this glorious structure isn’t just a symbol of Roman ingenuity, it’s also the beating heart of the Italian capital. So, staying in a hotel near the Pantheon means diving into Rome’s glorious history while having the best of the city at your fingertips.

Here’s what we’ll cover. Click on any title to jump to each section:

Where exactly in Rome is the Pantheon?

Map of the Neighbourhoods in RomeThe Pantheon is located in rione (Italian for neighbourhood) Pigna, in the heart of Rome’s historic centre (Located centre left in map above). More precisely, you’ll find it on Piazza della Rotonda, a lovely square designed by the local architect Giacomo della Porta in the 16th century.

The area is packed with atmospheric bars and fantastic restaurants serving delicious Roman staples, including the famous Café Sant’Eustachio and Armando al Pantheon.

The area around the Pantheon is a limited traffic zone which means cars can’t access the area except for residents and vehicles with special permits, otherwise, the area is mostly pedestrian. The nearest metro stations are Barberini (line A, 15 minutes) and Colosseo (line B, 20 minutes) and you can easily catch buses to major sites, like the Vatican (bus #492) and the Roman Forum (bus #51). In Largo Argentina, you’ll also find the bus services connecting the neighbourhood to Termini train station.
